Dover needs a new city treasurer

DOVER – The city is looking for a new treasurer.

Susan Solvey, the city’s treasurer for the past 14 years, resigned from the elected position effective Wednesday.

Dover Mayor Shane Gunnoe called Solvey a dedicated public official and an asset to the city and wished her well in her retirement.

The Tuscarawas County Democratic Central Committee will appoint the new treasurer. Interested candidates should submit their resumes to the Tuscarawas County Democratic Central Committee by October 19th.

Committee members will meet the next day at Democratic Party Headquarters in New Philadelphia to interview applicants and select a candidate who must live in Dover and be a Democrat.

The appointee will have to run for the office in 2027 to complete the remainder of the term that ends in 2029.
