Dover Public Library to host ‘Meet the Candidates’ this evening

DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 7, 2024) – The Dover Public Library is venturing into politics by hosting a “Meet the Candidates Night” this evening for the first time in recent memory.
Director Jim Gill says others have suggested the library, as a non-partisan source for information, host this type of event.
“We don’t have a dog in the fight,” said Gill. “We just want people to know what candidates are out there, are on the ballot, and most importantly, we just want you to vote. We want you to register and vote.”
The library has invited candidates for county offices, Southern District Court Judge and state representative.
Gill stresses that the event is not a debate. Candidates will introduce themselves, talk about their goals and then mingle with the public for one-on-one questions and answers.
“Meet the Candidates Night” starts at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Dover Public Library.
