Dover Schools Mourn Second Student Death This Year
DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 21, 2026) – The Dover School District is grieving the loss of a tenth‑grade student, marking the second high school student death reported this school year.
High School Principal Brooke Grafe informed families Tuesday night that the student died by suicide earlier in the day. Counselors are available at the high school today and will remain accessible in the coming days. District officials are urging families to check in with their children and have conversations about seeking support from a trusted adult or school counselor if needed.
The district reminds the community that anyone in crisis — or concerned about someone else — can call or text 988 at any time to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
This tragedy follows last month’s death of Dover freshman Nathan Beachy, which also prompted widespread mourning throughout the community.
