Dover shooting incident investigated as domestic situation

| October 3, 2023

DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 3, 2023) – Dover police say the weekend shooting incident at a home in the 100 block of Regent Street appears to have stemmed from a domestic situation.

Detective Captain Chad Mowrer says they believe the 30-year-old Dover man living at the home discharged a firearm that struck the 30-year-old Kensington woman as she was attempting to force her way into the home shortly after noon Saturday.

He says the two have a child together.

“This was not a random act of violence,” said Mowrer.

The woman was treated and released at the hospital for her injuries.

The man was taken into custody and later released.

A report is being sent to the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor’s Office to review for possible charges.

“Our community is safe, and we will see where it goes from here,” Mowrer said.
