Dover state qualifier now coaches wrestling program

| June 13, 2023

DOVER – A two-time state qualifier for the Dover High School wrestling team is now leading the program.

2017 Dover grad Gannon Petrullo is Dover’s new head wrestling coach. The School Board approved the hire Monday.

While wrestling for the Tornadoes, Petrullo was a three-time ECOL champion in addition to qualifying for the state tournament twice. He is still among the school’s career leaders in takedowns and wins.

Petrullo is also a third-grade teacher at Dover East Elementary and an assistant girls soccer coach at the high school. He was an assistant wrestling coach for Dover this past season and previously coached at Dover Middle School and West Holmes. Petrullo graduated from Kent State in 2021.

“We are excited about the enthusiasm and energy Coach Petrullo will bring to the program,” Dover Athletic Director Tim McCrate said. He’s extremely qualified and invested in our program and school district. We are fortunate to have Coach Petrullo leading the program.”
