DOVER TOWNSHIP (WJER) (May 12, 2023) – A Dover Township man remained in the hospital Friday morning with serious injuries after he was hit by a pickup truck while mowing his lawn the day before.
New Philadelphia State Highway Patrol Sergeant Jennifer Makris says investigators suspect speed and impairment played a role in the crash, and charges are pending against a 52-year-old New Philadelphia man.
The crash happened around 7:05 p.m. Thursday on Crooked Run Road.
“The vehicle that went of the roadway drove through a yard and struck a person mowing his lawn.”
She described the Dover Township man’s injuries as serious.
“He was transported by helicopter to Akron City Hospital due to the extent of his injuries.”
The driver of the Toyota Tundra was not injured.
