Dover’s mayor anticipates momentum from busy 2025 to continue

Dover Mayor Shane Gunnoe

DOVER (WJER) (Jan. 5, 2026) – Dover’s mayor says 2025 was a historically productive year for the city.

Shane Gunnoe says the $10 million in projects undertaken by the city is double the historic average, and income tax collections are up 5 percent over 2024, which was a record.

Gunnoe says grants are funding at least four new additions to the city parks department, including pickleball courts, a park shelter, bocce ball court improvements, and upgrades at the city’s riverfront park.

The city will also move into a new City Hall this year at the former First Federal Bank building downtown.

Gunnoe anticipates some more commercial development announcements in the coming year following last year’s news regarding an ALDI grocery store and Taco Bell on Dover’s north side.
