Downtown Dennison to light up for the holidays Sunday

| November 29, 2024

DENNISON (WJER) (Nov. 29, 2024) – The Fifty Days of Christmas in Dreamsville continue this weekend with the fourth-annual Light Up Dennison event.

Councilwoman Vikki O’Hara says it’s happening Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7 in the downtown, where visitors will enjoy free refreshments, trackless train rides, visits with Santa, and other holiday-themed activities.

“We’ve got all the businesses that will be all adorned in lights. Pretty much, we’ve got about 100-percent participation. And this is really to target and promote our businesses and to try and get people to shop local and showcase what we do have.”

You’ll also again be able to cruise around checking out the downtown lights and decorations  from the comfort of your vehicle.

“We’ll have maps available that we’ll be handing out to anyone coming in but we’re really, really trying to get people to get out of their cars and walk the downtown area. I know in the past we really focused on the cruise but we would really like to get people out walking the downtown district.”

Several churches are participating in Sunday’s festivities, which begin with a tree-lighting ceremony on the square. Immaculate Conception will have a live nativity at St. Mary’s where hot dogs and cocoa will be served. Park Christian will be there as well providing scarves, mittens, and hats to anyone in need.
