Drive-up flu shots available in Dover on Tuesday

| October 14, 2024

DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 14, 2024) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is letting everyone know about a convenient way to get protected before flu season starts ramping up.

Director of Promotion and Community Relations Jennifer Demuth says they’re offering drive-up flu shots on Tuesday, Oct. 15, for three hours – from 3 to 6 pm – with free goodie bags for the first 50 participants.

“Of course, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, but anyone ages 3 and older can come and just drive through – they don’t need an appointment – and get their flu vaccine. It’s very easy, very convenient.”

Demuth says in addition to the standard shot, they’ll have Flu-block, which is made without eggs, and the high-dose formula for those 65 or older along with the latest COVID boosters.

“So if you just want to get your COVID-19 vaccine, you can do that at this event or if you want to get both at the same time. It is safe to do that. We do caution that you are going to be more sore if you get both the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.”

The county health department hosts one of these drive-up flu shot clinics each October at its headquarters on East Iron Avenue in Dover. Demuth says anyone taking part in the one on Tuesday will need a photo ID and their insurance card. Those without health care coverage can pay by cash or check.
