NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 27, 2024) – Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s officials say a Newcomerstown man was injured after crashing his vehicle and rolling it over several times at the end of a high-speed pursuit that started on the west side of New Philadelphia.
A deputy says it began when he clocked the suspect, 28-year-old Keelan Harris, allegedly driving 67 mph in a 35-mph zone on West High Avenue near Bluebell Drive Thursday at about 10:30 p.m.
Records show that the chase continued onto Stonecreek Road, with speeds topping 110 mph, before the eventual crash. Deputies say Harris ran from the scene but was located and caught a short time later on I-77.
Harris was treated at a Canton hospital and then taken to the Tuscarawas County Jail. He is being held on charges including reckless operation and failure to comply with the order of a police officer.
