Driver’s death under investigation following crash in Fairfield Township
FAIRFIELD TWP. (WJER) (Dec. 4, 2023) – The State Highway Patrol says a Mineral City man died after his SUV went left of center and crashed into a utility pole down the street from his home on Sunday.
Troopers believe the 66-year-old victim had been experiencing a medical emergency that was to blame for the crash and his death.
Trooper Alex Carroll says the single-vehicle accident happened in the 4200 block of Tall Timber Road Northeast at about 4:45 p.m.
The driver was pronounced deceased at Aultman Hospital.
Carroll says they’ll know more about when the Stark County Coroner’s Office releases a preliminary report.
“It’s still under investigation but we’re leaning towards medical related as far as the cause of death,” Carroll said.
Carroll says the driver’s wife was also a passenger in the vehicle and suffered what he described as minor injuries.
