East Sparta man dies in weekend crash

SANDY TOWNSHIP (WJER) (Jan. 10th, 2022) – The State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia post says an East Sparta man was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Tuscarawas County over the weekend.
The post says 52-year-old Sean Jeffery died when his SUV crashed on state Route 183 in Sandy Township, near the Carroll County line, Saturday at about 8:30 p.m.
Troopers say Jeffery was thrown from the eastbound SUV as it went off the right side of the road and struck a ditch, overturned, and caught fire. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers didn’t immediately know if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
