Auditions at Trumpet in the Land

The event

Auditions for Trumpet in the Land’s 2024 summer and fall seasons will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, beginning at 10:00 A.M. in the Tuscarawas County Welcome Center, 124 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia.   

This year Trumpet in the Land celebrates its 55th summer season from June 21 through August 17.  In addition to the outdoor drama, the summer schedule will also include productions of the rollicking musical Footloose, based on the hit movie and a successful Broadway appearance, and The Enchanted Bookshop, a fun-filled show sure to please children and adults alike.    The fall season opens in September with Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins, followed by Dracula in October, and concluding in November with Beautiful – The Carole King Story.

Now in its 55th season, Trumpet in the Land – Ohio’s official state play – utilizes all the elements of theatre while retelling the compelling story of Ohio’s first settlement, Schoenbrunn, during the tumultuous Revolutionary War era.  Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Paul Green’s script is set in the very hills once traveled by those portrayed in the show at the picturesque Amphitheatre in New Philadelphia.

Those Interested in auditioning must be 18 years of age or older, must provide a photo and resume, prepare a 1-2 minute monologue from any play or musical and 16-32 bars of a song in the genre of the musicals being performed.  An accompanist and cd/mp3 player will be provided. A capella singing is not acceptable.

Those not able to attend this one day only audition can submit a video audition to trumpet@frontier.com NO LATER THAN [April 10th.]  Please include “Trumpet in the Land Audition” in the subject line of the email and attach a headshot and resume to the email along with the video or link to video.
