Fort Laurens Speaker Series – Miami Nation

The Fort Laurens Speaker Series will return on Saturday, March 19th at 11am. The guest speaker is John Bickers who will give a presentation on the Miami Nation in Ohio. John is not only a historian, he is also a member of the Miami Nation. He will discuss how the Miami lost land through early treaties with the United States and how Miami leaders resisted American expansion in the ensuing decades, and why they ultimately agreed to their forced removal to lands west of the Mississippi River. The program is free and open to anyone.
