FREE and confidential tax preparation

The United Way of Tuscarawas County is once again partnering with the United Way of Greater Stark County to offer FREE and confidential tax preparation for individuals and families earning $69,000 or less through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

Scheduling for VITA is underway and will continue until appointment slots are full. A limited number of appointment times are available between 9:30am and 1:30pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from February 10^th thru April 9^th. Residents located in the southern part of the county who wish to utilize the VITA program are encouraged to secure an appointment time for Wednesday, March 18^th, which will be the only day VITA volunteers will be available to complete taxes at the Newcomerstown branch of DoverPhila Federal Credit Union. Those who need bilingual services are encouraged to schedule an appointment time for Saturday, March 21^st when interpreters will be available to assist with the completion of paperwork and answer questions. Anyone interested in participating can make an appointment in one of three ways:

Participants will need to bring all relevant tax documents to their appointment. Prior to your appointment, you may pick up an envelope detailing all the necessary documents and paperwork needed to complete your taxes. You may also complete this paperwork at your appointment (it is not required to be completed ahead of time). These envelopes are available at the United Way of Tuscarawas County.

Appointments will take place at the DoverPhila Federal Credit Union Administrative Building located at 119 Fillmore Avenue in Dover (behind the bank). When you arrive, you will park in a designated “VITA” parking spot and a volunteer will greet you, collect your documents, and assist you with the completion of the paperwork, if needed. When it is determined they have everything they need to complete your taxes, you will be free to leave. Once your tax preparer has completed your taxes, you will receive a phone call letting you know, then you can pick up your completed taxes at the United Way of Tuscarawas County located at 1458 5^th Street NW in New Philadelphia
