JULY 30 IS WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

/ July 30, 2024

The event

Tuesday, July 30, marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This is a day dedicated to raise awareness of the global issue, this year focusing on raising awareness of the causes and vulnerabilities in child trafficking, the theme is Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking.
Risk factors and vulnerabilities include but aren’t limited to recent migration and/or relocation, substance abuse and/or addiction, runaway and/or homeless youth, previous experience of abuse and mental health concerns.
In honor of this day, you can get involved by sharing, liking and commenting on social media messages for the World Day by using the hashtag #endhumantrafficking which can be found on the Tusc Against Trafficking Facebook page to spread awareness.
Tusc Against Trafficking (TAT) is a local anti-human trafficking organization that works together with other service providers in the community to expand gap-filling services, offer support to victims and survivors of human trafficking at a local level, and spread awareness and education about human trafficking in Tuscarawas and Carroll counties.
Some of TAT’s main goals include the following:
  • Determine needs of victims and survivors and help provide the resources to deliver those needs
  • Identify the services available to victims/survivors on all levels including local, state and national
  • Develop/deliver trainings to service providers in the community
  • Spread education and awareness about human trafficking in rural areas
If you think you or someone you know may be being trafficked, please contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1 (888) 373-7888 or call COMPASS at (330) 339-1427. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911 or local law enforcement.
