National Back to Church Sunday
The event
On September 15, 2024, Prairie Chapel Methodist Church will join with thousands of churches nationwide for National Back to Church Sunday. Our goal is to invite as many people as we can to come for this service that will feature special music from the Prairie Chapel Singers. A lunch (by donation) will be served after church to support our Shoebox ministry. Country singer, John Schmid, & his wife, Lydia, will be sharing after lunch. John is known as the Johnny Cash of Holmes County and has a unique jail ministry. Everyone is welcome to attend.
“With the recent statistics and studies showing that hopelessness is a real issue in our culture, we want our community to know that our church, and really every church, is here as a resource and a place where people can connect, make friends and find support for when life gets hard,” said Reverend Matt Wilson. “Our church theme for this season is ‘Each One, Reach One’”.
The National Back to Church Sunday (BTCS) movement marks its fifteenth year in 2024 and it continues to gain momentum. More than 5 million Christ followers have participated through 30,000 churches since 2009. It is a day focused on uniting the church to equip and empower their members to be inviters. Eight out of ten people say they are open to visiting church if invited — they are just waiting for an invitation. We invite you!
