Sinking of the Sultana to be the Topic of Upcoming Civil War Round Table

The event

The Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 PM in the Community Room of the Dover Public Library, located at 525 N. Walnut Street in Dover. The featured presenter will be Van Young, who will present: “The Sultana: A Great American Disaster.” This presentation examines the April 27, 1865 explosion of the famous wooden steamship on the Mississippi River, killing nearly 2,000 Union solders—to this day the worst maritime disaster in American history.

The mission of the Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table is to educate the community about the American Civil War, to preserve Civil War heritage and to remember those who struggled for their cause.
