Steel Drums & Swinging Brass! ARTSNCT Delivers Another Must-See Free Concert

/ April 12, 2025

The event

ARTSNCT is thrilled to present a spectacular afternoon of live music as part of its Arts for All community performance series! On Saturday, April 12, at 1:00 PM, the stage at Newcomerstown Middle School will come alive with the vibrant sounds of the Dover High School Steel Drum Band and Jazz Band. This free concert is an exciting opportunity for music lovers of all ages to enjoy dynamic performances in a celebration of art, culture, and community spirit.
Adding to the festivities, this special concert is one of two celebratory events honoring the 100-year anniversary of the historic Newcomerstown Middle School building. As part of the milestone celebration, attendees can also enjoy a free-will donation lunch offered by the Newcomerstown Historical Society beginning at 11:30 AM in the school’s cafeteria.
The grand finale of ARTSNCT’s free concert series will be a once-in-a-lifetime concert featuring a 20-piece professional orchestra of Northern Ohio’s finest musicians, under the baton of maestro Joseph Rubin, on Saturday, May 17, at 2:00 PM, also onstage at the middle school. This historical concert will recreate an original 1923 Manuel Yingling Hyperion Band Concert, complete with period uniforms and original orchestrations.
For those unfamiliar with Manuel Yingling, he was a world-renowned musician born in Newcomerstown. In 1920, he was a featured trombonist in John Philip Sousa’s Band, making a significant mark in the world of music.
This is a must-attend event for families, music enthusiasts, and history lovers alike. No tickets are required—just bring your love of the arts and be ready to enjoy an unforgettable experience!
