Veterans Day service in New Philadelphia

The 2024 Veterans Day service, honoring all veterans of the Unites States Armed Forces, will be held on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11th, beginning at 11:00 AM, on Court House Square in downtown New Philadelphia. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved indoors to the VFW Banquet Hall located at VFW Post 1445, 441 Park Avenue NW, New Philadelphia. A decision to move the service will be made by 9AM on Veterans Day.

The guest speaker for the 2024 Veterans Day service is Steve Chenevey, Post Commander of New Philadelphia’s Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Mr. Chenevey served as a Sergeant in the United States Army and is a combat veteran who served with the 14th Combat Engineer Battalion in Vietnam. He has served as Post Commander for VFW Post 1445 for the past seven years. He is a member of the Post 1445 Military Honors Team. He has also served as the Chairman of the New Philadelphia Veterans Coordinating Committee, which produces New Philadelphia’s annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs, for the past seven years. He is dedicated to serving America’s veterans and their families.

The Veterans Day service will include the traditional performances by New Philadelphia’s wonderful and talented student musicians and vocalists. The program will close with the rendering of the traditional Volleys and Taps with the VFW Post 1445 Military Honors Team rendering the volleys and buglers for the NPHS Marching Quaker Band Sounding Taps.

Following the service, the public is invited to the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 Canteen for the traditional Bean Soup Luncheon. All are welcome to attend.
