Zoar Free Speaker Series: Ohio Presidents
The event
Historic Zoar Village’s 2024 Free Speaker Series concludes on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. with a presentation by Kevin Kern, Ph.D., associate history professor at the University of Akron and another presentation at 1 p.m. by Heather Cole, writer and public historian.
Dr. Kern will discuss the history of the seven Ohioan presidents who served between 1868 and 1920 and their impact in American history. In her presentation, Cole will discuss how the seven Ohio-born presidents led the nation through some of the most pivotal periods in U.S. history based on the material in her newest book “Ohio’s Presidents: A History & Guide.
This event is free to attend. Free parking is available near the Schoolhouse.
After the presentations, guests are welcome to purchase tickets for the Zoar and the Presidents public day running on the same day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can meet reenactors portraying U.S. presidents and historical figures active during Zoar’s era as a communal settlement from 1817 to 1898.
