Fallen tree limb knocks out power to downtown Dover

| June 12, 2023

DOVER (WJER) (June 12, 2023) – A tree limb fell on a power line early this morning, knocking out electricity in the downtown area for about an hour.

Mayor Shane Gunnoe says around 5 a.m. the branch took out a line on East 3rd Street that fed into the downtown. He says the city’s electric field division responded quickly and had power back on by around 6 a.m.

Gunnoe called it a pretty good-sized outage, but he didn’t have the exact number of customers without power. Downtown traffic lights, businesses, and some residents were impacted.

“Second, Third, Fourth, and then moving north a little bit. Primarily the downtown business district between Wooster and Tusc, a little bit on the east side of Wooster on 3rd Street. Fortunately they were able to get it resolved in about an hour so hopefully it was before there was too much inconvenience for people getting ready to go to work on a Monday morning.”
