| January 19, 2026

DOVER (WJER) (Jan. 19, 2026) – Dover firefighters, police, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are still investigating a fatal house fire that occurred Friday afternoon in the 200 block of South Johnson Avenue.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the man who died.

Fire officials say a call reporting possible smoke from the home came in around 12:40 p.m. Crews found the victim in a first‑floor kitchen area at the rear of the house. He was transported to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, where he later died.

According to Captain Mike Mossor, it took about 17 minutes to bring the fire under control. The blaze caused heavy damage to the living room on the first floor, with smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. Investigators say the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
