Fire collapses roof of septic tank service business

UNION TWP. (WTUZ) (July 17, 2024) – A Dennison area septic tank service business had a garage-type building destroyed in an overnight fire.
Multiple departments were sent to TDT Septic and Excavating in the 1500 block of Midvale Mine Road after a neighbor reported the fire at about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Sherrodsville Volunteer Fire Department Captain Mike Booth says the building was already involved in flames when they arrived.
“It’s rural for everybody out here so it takes us a little bit more time to get here,” Booth said.
Booth says the building’s roof collapsed prior to their arrival.
“We just surrounded it and [went into a] defensive attack,” he said.
Firefighters were there for close to four hours. The roughly 48-by 80-foot building and its contents are deemed a loss.
“I think there was a car in there. Other than that, I think it was mostly stuff that pertained to the business. A lot of their equipment and stuff was out on jobs and outside,” Booth said.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office sent an investigator to determine the cause. Dennison firefighters were called back to the scene for a rekindle at about 8:40 a.m.
