Fire Forces Closure of Dover Fabric Shop
DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 23, 2026) – Anything Sews Fine Fabrics in Dover has closed permanently after a fire caused heavy damage early Thursday morning.
Firefighters were called to the East Ohio Avenue shop around 2:37 a.m. after smoke alarms sounded in the attached living quarters.
Firefighters say the fire smoldered inside the business until it ran out of oxygen. Heat and smoke damaged the entire store, melting light fixtures and forcing crews to pull out inventory to reach smoldering materials.
The attached residence had only minor smoke damage, and the building itself did not burn.
The owners later announced on Facebook that the shop will not reopen. The cause and damage estimate were under investigation.
