Fire Reported at FreePort Press Building in New Philadelphia

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 30, 2026) — Multiple fire departments responded Thursday afternoon to a reported fire at Freeport Press on Reiser Avenue.

The incident was reported at approximately 12:23 p.m. and possibly originated in the building’s boiler room. Employees evacuated the facility and gathered in the parking lot. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters had the situation largely under control by about 1 p.m. Crews were observed inspecting the roof and ventilating the building using large industrial fans. Light smoke could be seen billowing from large bay doors along the side of the building.

Fire officials have not yet released additional details about the cause or extent of the fire. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
