Firefighters help stranded mother and son along Tuscarawas River
BOLIVAR (WJER) (June 24, 2024) – Bolivar firefighters say they were called to help a mother and son from the Massillon area who became separated from others while tubing down the Tuscarawas River on Saturday evening.
Firefighter Logan Haley says the lost woman called 9-1-1 around 6:45 p.m. and the sheriff’s office was able to ping her phone near the 12000 block of Sherman Church Rd NE.
He said firefighters had to drive across a field and trudge through brush to get to the two on the south bank of the river.
Haley says the mother and son were checked out at the scene and released.
