Firefighters share advice and open their doors for Fire Prevention Week

TUSC. CO (WJER) (Oct. 10, 2024) – National Fire Prevention Week Continues with more area fire departments hosting open houses.

New Philadelphia’s is from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight. Fire Captain Jim Sholtz says they will have popcorn and hotdogs, demonstrations, and all the trucks will be available to tour.

Sholtz also reminds residents to contact the fire station if they need a smoke alarm.

Meanwhile, Uhrichsville firefighter Shane Dorland says his station’s open house is also tonight from 5:30 to 7 p.m., where they’ll be teaching hands-on CPR.

And then the Sugarcreek Fire Department is having an open house and pancake breakfast Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. Meals are by donation only.
