First lawsuits filed over Tusky Valley charter bus crash
COLUMBUS (WJER) (July 3, 2024) – Families of three of the people killed in the Tusky Valley charter bus chain crash near Columbus last November have now filed wrongful death lawsuits.
The lawsuits were filed in Franklin County by attorneys representing the families of students John Mosley and Katelyn Owens and parent-chaperone Shannon Wigfield.
Defendants include the trucking company and the dealership that sold the truck blamed for causing the accident as well as its driver.
The lawsuits accuse the Mid-State Systems semi-truck of not being properly equipped with crash prevention safety features and driver Jacob DeWayne McDonald of negligence.
The defendants have denied responsibility.
A trial is tentatively scheduled for next year.
