Flock Camera Vandalized Near Bolivar
BOLIVAR (WJER) (Sept. 8, 2026) – Tuscarawas County sheriff’s detectives are investigating after a Flock Safety license plate reader camera was vandalized Sunday just east of Bolivar.
According to the sheriff’s office call records, a deputy noticed the camera was missing from State Route 212, between the I-77 northbound exit ramp and the Tuscarawas River, while responding to another call around 12:45 p.m. The deputy later returned and found the camera had been cut down. Its solar panel was found just under the surface of a nearby pond.
The case has been forwarded to detectives. No suspect information has been released.
Flock cameras are backed by police and some local officials who say they help solve crimes, while civil-liberties groups and several lawmakers argue they enable mass surveillance and risk misuse.
