Forecasters issue fire risk alert for region today

PITTSBURGH (WJER) (Mar. 19, 2025) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuscarawas County today.

That means critical brush fire weather conditions are either occurring now – or will be shortly – due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures.

Firefighters are also reminding everyone that open burning is prohibited right now.

The Red Flag Warning is in effect today from 11 a.m. through 10 p.m. A cold front will move through Ohio after that time, reducing the risk of fires.
