Forecasters Warn of Flash Flooding Across Region
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 21, 2026) – Flooding remains a concern across the region today.
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch in effect until noon. With the ground already saturated, forecasters warn of possible flash flooding, especially along rivers, creeks and other low-lying areas.
Showers and a possible thunderstorm continue through late morning, then more showers likely. Patchy fog could linger into early afternoon. Today’s high near 64, with northeast winds up to 11 miles an hour and gusts around 22. Rain chances at 90 percent, with up to an inch of new rainfall.
Tuscarawas County Emergency Management reminds drivers: Never drive through moving water. Just six inches can move a small car, while 12 inches can move an SUV. Floodwater can also hide a washed-out roadway.
