Former mayor begins jail sentence
NEW PHILADELPHIA – Former Uhrichsville mayor Mark Haney is in the Tuscarawas County Jail to begin serving a 10-day jail sentence.
Haney pleaded guilty to felony theft and soliciting improper compensation in April related to charges from the state auditor’s office alleging he used city funds to pay for personal purchases and trips.https://www.wjer.com/news/former-uhrichsville-mayor-to-serve-10-days-in-jail/
Judge Michael Ernest sentenced Haney to 10 days in jail in addition to paying about $16,000 in retribution.
Haney asked the judge for time to make work arrangements or to split up the sentence, but Ernest said the 10 days must be served within 30 days of his June 2nd sentencing order.
Haney was booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail on Monday.
