Franklin Square intersection closes for two weeks

| November 14, 2024

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 14, 2024) – Drivers are encountering some more traffic issues in downtown New Philadelphia.

Service Director Ron McAbier says the work on the Franklin Square storm sewer project has shifted.  West High Avenue is closed for two weeks -starting today – at the intersection with 4th Street for final tie-ins to close out the project.

McAbier says the detours have drivers using Ray and Front avenues to get around the closed intersection.

“Again, it’s just going to be for two weeks and…we’ll get through it,” said McAbier.

McAbier says North Avenue Northeast is also closed between North Broadway and Second Street Northeast for a waterline project until about the first week of December.

This comes as crews have been putting the finishing touches on the KSU bike lane connector trail project on East High Avenue in recent days.
