Free car seat checks at Walmart on Monday
NEW PHILADELPHIA – About half of all child car seats are installed incorrectly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Hoping to reduce that percentage locally, the New Philadelphia Fire Department and local health agencies will conduct free car seat checks at the Blue Bell Drive Walmart on Monday. Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be there from the Tuscarawas County and New Philadelphia Health Departments.
No appointment is necessary, and families are encouraged to bring their child so technicians can ensure a proper seat fit.
The free car seat checks are offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the New Philadelphia Walmart.
