Registration now closed for free estate planning clinic

| September 27, 2024

Editor’s note: Registration for Wednesday’s clinic is now closed.

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 27, 2024) – The Tuscarawas County Bar Association is hosting a free estate planning clinic next week.

It’s happening on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7:30 in the Tuscora Park Youth Center. Association Vice-President Treasur Luikart says it’s an opportunity for anyone without an estate plan to learn about their options.

“It really comes down to trying to make things easier on your family whenever you’ve passed, and then there’s some amount of planning that’s to make it easier on your family during life. Especially if you need help as you get up in years or if something happens, those power of attorney documents can really help your family avoid going to court to get a guardianship or something along those lines.”

Tuscarawas County Probate County Probate Court Judge Adam Wilgus will give a presentation, and participants will also receive individualized guidance from a volunteer attorney.

“We’ve done family law advice in the past, but we haven’t really done an estate planning event, and it’s really something that everyone needs at some point in their life. So many people might not feel they that have the resources to go and seek an attorney to just get information and figure out what their needs are.”

To reserve your spot for Wednesday’s clinic, email tluikart@kpldlaw.com or call 330-343-5585 and leave a message with your name and how many people will be attending. The association asks anyone planning to register to do so before Monday.
