Last night, the Dover Tornadoes took on the Massillon Tigers. The Tornadoes started the scoring early in the game when Olivia VanDonge beat a few Tiger defenders and hit a nice shot past the keeper. From there, the scoring continued often with a total of eight goals being scored in the first half. Shortly after Olivia’s first goal Bridget McCrate got on the board with a nice shot coming off a nice cross from Olivia. We looked to try and knock the ball around and possess the ball which helped spread the Tigers out. This helped Bella Zobel score two goals with one coming in the 13th minute off a beautiful cross from Sophia Bielski and a second about a minute later off a nice pass from Alyssa Feller. Carley Noretto added to the scoring in the 21st and 23rd minute of the game taking two nice passes from Alyssa and putting them past the keeper. We ended the half with Cassy Connare scoring in the 36th minute (assisted by Amaya Baumberger) and Bella Zobel completing her hat trick with one minute left to go in the half.

At half time, we discussed trying to really possess the ball to eat more of the clock up and to work on some of things we discuss and work on at practice. Four minutes into the half, Emilyn Feller took a pass from Sophia Bielski and beat the keeper for her first goal of the game. About 10 minutes later, one of our six sets of sisters connected for our tenth goal when Kenzie Wright took a pass from her older sister Annie Wright to beat the keeper. We ended the game with two more goals from Abby Jones (unassisted) and Belen Bravo-Angel (unassisted). It was nice to give some of our younger players a lot of varsity time and to get some of our starters a little bit of rest before our game on Saturday against Steubenville. Addie Martin and the defense tallied their fifth shutout of the season.
