Health Officials Urge October Flu Shots
DOVER (WJER) (Oct. 19, 2026) — Tuscarawas County health officials say now is the time to get an annual flu shot.
Health Department spokesperson Jennifer Demuth says flu activity is beginning to appear nationwide. She says an October vaccination provides protection through the heart of flu season, helps prevent severe illness and can keep patients out of the hospital.
The department offers a standard vaccine for people six months to 64, egg-free Flublok for ages nine to 64, and a high-dose vaccine for adults 65 and older. Demuth says anyone with questions should ask a healthcare provider which option is best for them.
