Health officials urge precautions due to high flu activity

| February 11, 2025

DOVER (WJER) (Feb. 11, 2025) – Tuscarawas County Health Department officials say Ohio is amid one of its most active flu seasons in more than five years as people have become less cautious over time since the early days of the Covid pandemic.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Demuth says the latest state report showed Tuscarawas County had 17 residents hospitalized as a result of the flu as of February 1st. She believes that number will go up when the next report is released this Friday.

Demuth says if you’re showing symptoms, it’s important to test and to keep away from others until fever-free for 24 hours.

She also says it’s not too late to get this season’s flu vaccine, which is available at the health department and many area pharmacies.
