Highway patrol investigating fatal utility vehicle crash
WASHINGTON TWP (WJER) (June 10, 2024) – State troopers are continuing their probe of the Friday afternoon crash in Washington Township that killed the operator of a side-by-side utility vehicle.
Lela Dale, 65, of Kimbolton was pronounced dead following the wreck that happened just before 4 pm while she was attempting to turn left into Sally’s Hilltop store from Salt Fork Road. New Philadelphia Post Sergeant Jennifer Markis says Dale’s northbound Polaris RZR was struck by an oncoming pickup truck whose driver wasn’t injured.
“The Polaris is at fault in the crash, and we don’t anticipate any charges for the driver of the Chevy Silverado.”
Dale wasn’t wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time. Troopers are awaiting toxicology results and don’t yet know whether alcohol was a factor.
