Holiday festivities continue in New Phila with parade
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 2, 2022) – The city has its yearly Christmas parade this evening.
Administrative Assistant Jamie Bailey says it steps off from Tuscora Park at 6:30, following its usual route along North Broadway, West High, and Second Street NW.
“And it will end at the Tuscarawas County Public Library on Fair Avenue where they will have free cookies, hot cocoa, and Santa will be available to visit with as well.”
She estimated between 40 and 50 entries when she talked to WJER News Wednesday but expected others to join the lineup.
“We ask that you do try to register ahead of time before the parade but if they decide at the last minute, they can register at the parade as well.”
Bailey has been coordinating the festivities the past few years but has been a spectator in the past.
“It’s always such a great parade. It’s a special community. Everyone always comes out and brings their best, and the floats are always amazing, what everybody comes up with. It’s always a fun parade to watch.”
If you can’t make it to the library after the parade, Santa will be in his house on the square the next three Saturdays from 5 to 7 pm. Bailey says he’ll be checking his mailbox before leaving town on December 18th and replying to any letters he receives.
