Hope in the Park Honors Lives Lost and Supports Recovery
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 31, 2026) – Hope in the Park will bring the Tuscarawas County community together today at Tuscora Park to remember lives lost to overdose, support those in recovery and mark International Overdose Awareness Day.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with local agencies and treatment providers sharing information about available resources, followed by a 6 p.m. remembrance ceremony featuring music, a speaker sharing a personal recovery journey and a bell-ringing ceremony.
The evening also includes free ride tickets sponsored by the New Philadelphia Rotary Club in memory of Nate Kamban.
Hope in the Park also will help usher in September’s National Recovery Month.
The Tuscarawas County and New Philadelphia City health departments, the ADAMHS Board, Empower Tusc, and others will also be involved.
