House fire displaces Dover family
DOVER (WJER) (Dec. 27, 2024) – A West side home is likely a total loss following a late morning fire.
City Fire Lieutenant Kyle Ousley oversaw the multi-agency response to the blaze in the 200 block of West 10th Street.
“It’s a two-and-a-half story building, the residence here. They had active fire coming out of what we call the B-side on two of the floors. Crews made an aggressive interior attack going through the front door, put a pretty good hit on it, allowed them to get to the second floor and got everything put out from there.”
Firefighters were called to the home just before 10:30 am and remained there for several hours making sure the fire was completely extinguished and searching for the family’s pets.
“It’s confirmed there are some animals [inside]. We haven’t located all of them yet.”
Units from New Philadelphia, Strasburg, Bolivar, and Smith Ambulance assisted. Ousley says there was extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the home, which he doesn’t believe will be salvageable. The cause remains under investigation.
