Hundreds turn out and donate at Dover City Park’s Christmas luminary walk

| December 23, 2025

DOVER (WJER) (Dec. 23, 2025) – The organizer behind the holiday luminary walk at Dover City Park this past weekend is thanking the community for helping make it become a new holiday tradition.

Dover Building and Zoning Administrator John McFadden says his family first put the luminaries up for an evening stroll through the park at Christmastime in 2020 to reconnect people following the covid shutdowns.

McFadden says he now gets the help of friends and their families who put hundreds of lights up for the walk this past Saturday night.  About 300 people came out for it.

McFadden says they also collected about 100 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items Saturday night for the Greater Dover – New Philadelphia Food Pantry.
