Hunter Armstrong honored at Dover’s End of Summer Celebration

| September 3, 2024

DOVER (WJER) (Sept. 3, 2024) – The city’s annual End of Summer Celebration had some Olympic flair to it this time around.

Dover native Hunter Armstrong, fresh off his gold-medal winning swimming relay performance in Paris, was honored at Sunday’s event at Dover City Park.

He thanked those in attendance for their continued support.

“You all are the reason I am the way I am today, “ Armstrong said.

Mayor Shane Gunnoe praised Armstrong for the way he’s composed himself on the global stage.

“How you’ve represented Dover, our state, and our country, we just couldn’t be more proud of you,” Gunnoe said.

Dover Council President Justin Perkowski also presented Armstrong with a resolution that council recently passed congratulating him for winning gold and silver in Paris.
