CHRISTOPHER ARBOGAST (Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office)

NEW PHILADELPHIA – An 11-count grand jury indictment accuses a 53-year-old Dover man of sexually abusing a child for 10 years starting when the child was 4 years old.

Christopher Arbogast is in the Tuscarawas County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Last week’s grand jury indictment in Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court includes four counts of rape, all first-degree felonies, and felony counts of sexual battery and gross sexual imposition. The case is pending in Judge Elizabeth Thomakos’s courtroom.

Arbogast was also the victim of a swatting call in August. Dover police and other law enforcement agencies responded to an East Front Street home after getting a call reporting someone had harmed someone and was threatening others at his address.

Police approached the home wearing body armor and carrying assault rifles and riot shields. Multiple times they called for Arbogast to come out of the house with his hands up. However, Arbogast was not there. The call turned out to be a hoax.

Dover Police say they have asked the FBI for help in tracking down the caller.
