Local patrol post collecting ‘Toys for Tots’
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Nov. 29, 2024) – A local law enforcement agency is showing its commitment to the community with a holiday toy drive.
The New Philadelphia Highway Patrol Post is accepting new, unwrapped toys for the local Toys for Tots program. Trooper Seth Oszust says it’s a way of giving back and making sure that kids don’t miss out on the magic of the holidays.
“And to show the community that we are humans also and we care and we’re just not always in the bad light that people put us in.”
There are donation boxes in the lobby of the post at 2454 East High Ave. Commander Lt. Johnnie Maier says this is to benefit families in their service area, which is limited to Tuscarawas and Carroll counties.
“Seth is working with someone locally here and those toys will go back to families in our community, so it’s not like they’re being collected and shipped off to Columbus or Cincinnati.”
The collection goes until December 15th and includes a drive-up donation event at the post this Saturday, Nov. 30, from 10 until 2.
