LWV hosts candidates and issues nights in New Philadelphia, Dover
NEW PHILADELPHIA – The League of Women Voters are hosting events in New Philadelphia and Dover to introduce voters to candidates and provide information on issues on the November ballot.
Janet Ladrach with the Tuscarawas County LWV says they aim to inform. She says the organization is non-partisan and doesn’t take sides, so all candidates are invited.
The first meet-the-candidates event is in New Philadelphia on Monday at 6 p.m. at the New Philadelphia library. Candidates running for New Philadelphia Board of Education have been invited to speak at the New Philadelphia event, as well as representatives from New Philadelphia Schools to talk about the bond issue and replacement levy, the Tuscarawas County Public Library to talk about the library levy, and a representative from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control to talk about the beer and alcohol issue that will be on the ballot.
The Dover event is on Tuesday, October 7th, at 6 p.m. at the Dover Public Library with School Board and Council candidates and city and township officials. Candidates running for Dover Board of Education and Dover City Council At Large have been invited to speak at the Dover event, as well as representatives from the City of Dover and Dover Township to talk about their property tax issues. Candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the community, briefly tell why they are running for office, and engage in conversation with their potential constituents.
Ladrach says the League of Women Voters would also like candidates to participate in a Q & A that will be shared online in Vote411, an online, interactive voter guide.
