Mineral City man arrested after allegedly firing gun during festival

| July 14, 2026

MINERAL CITY – A 54-year-old Mineral City man was arrested after allegedly shooting a gun near the Mineral City Summer Carnival just after 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office report alleges the man was intoxicated when he was in his yard on East First Street and fired a gun across the street toward a cemetery. That’s near a public park, a church and other homes. Plus, the village was having a festival at the time so many people witnessed the incident.

The report says no one was hurt and officials believe that no one was targeted.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges on Tuesday and was released on his own recognizance.
