NEW PHILADELPHIA – A 59-year-old Mingo Junction man has died from injuries sustained in a crash in Carroll County last week.

The New Philadelphia post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says James D. McClain of Mingo Junction died Monday, almost a week after the Oct. 8 crash on state Route 43 in Lee Township.

McClain was driving a 2014 Hyundai Sonato southbound at approximately 2:08 p.m., went left of center, overcorrected and was hit by a 2021 Ford F250, according to the State Highway Patrol. He was flown from the scene to Aultman Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased on Oct. 14.

The driver of the Ford F250, a 25-year-old East Liverpool man, had minor injuries. His passenger was not injured. All vehicle occupants were wearing safety belts.

The State Highway Patrol says the crash remains under investigation.
